POSH - Polyester
These brightly colored ropes are made from polyester and are modeled on the classic twisted ropes made from natural fibers. Both the feel and the look are confusingly similar. Unlike most plastic ropes, these are definitely suitable for bondage and shibari and offer a number of advantages over hemp or jute.
Since these ropes can be washed and dried without any problems, they are very suitable for outdoor use, bondage on the water and of course in the water! The Posh ropes are also an excellent alternative for allergy sufferers who have problems with hemp and jute.
Due to the extremely high breaking load of 300kg for 5.5mm and even 500kg for 6.5mm ropes, they are also perfect as carrying ropes for suspensions. The specified diameters are very exact compared to natural fiber ropes!
The ropes do not lint, do not require any care and feel pleasant and soft on the skin. Even if the rope is pulled quickly over the skin, hardly any more heat is generated than with the natural fibers.
Conclusion:
While polyester rope has some advantages, it's not the same bondage experience as jute or hemp. For me personally it is more of a great option for various applications than a general alternative to natural fibers! I just kind of miss the smell, the breaking fibers and the feeling when the new ropes become softer and more supple.
