KLASSIK or EXKLUSIV – what is the difference?

Within the same rope range, KLASSIK and EXKLUSIV differ only in the end knot. The material, diameter, rope twist and processing remain the same.

KLASSIK

The KLASSIK version has a simple overhand knot at each end of the rope.

This knot is quick to make and adds virtually no extra work. That is why we can offer the KLASSIK version at a slightly lower price.

Simple, functional and proven.

EXKLUSIV

For the EXKLUSIV version, we use our small, compact Triskenknoten.

It takes considerably more work to tie, but is very small, round and firm. The finished knot is only slightly thicker than the rope itself.

Another advantage: once the Triskenknoten has been correctly positioned and tightened, it can only be reopened with considerable effort. Accidental loosening is virtually impossible during normal use.

We are so convinced by this finish that we offer our coloured natural-fibre ropes and our POSH-Rope exclusively in the EXKLUSIV version.

Why the small knot is practical when tying

The difference becomes particularly relevant when the rope end has to be pulled through existing rope layers while tying.

A normal overhand knot is considerably larger and its shape creates edges and raised areas. This makes it more likely to catch on other ropes when being pulled through.

Anyone who has tried to guide a rope end through several existing rope layers in Shibari probably knows this: the rope is meant to pass straight through, yet the knot decides to catch somewhere. 🙂

The small Triskenknoten, by contrast, is round and barely thicker than the rope itself.

This allows it to glide through existing rope layers much more easily and catch far less often.

Especially in more complex ties, this small difference can be very welcome.

Is EXKLUSIV the better rope?

No. A High Class Jute rope remains the same High Class Jute rope regardless of the end knot. EXKLUSIV describes the more elaborate knot finish, not a different fibre quality or additional rope treatment.

Which version is right for me?

  • KLASSIK: If a simple overhand knot is enough for you and you want a slightly lower-priced starting point.
  • EXKLUSIV: If you prefer a compact end knot that passes more easily through existing rope layers.

Our coloured natural-fibre ropes and our POSH-Rope are offered exclusively as EXKLUSIV with Triskenknoten.

You will find the available versions for each rope in the Shop. Tips for maintaining your ropes are available under Rope care.
